STEETON Male Voice Choir is limbering up for its annual concert at King’s Hall in Ilkley on October 26. The 7.30pm concert will see the return of guests Bradford Brass Band under the musical direction of Lee Skipsey.

Choir spokesman Eric Parker said: “Our musical director Catherine Sweet is working closely with Lee to give the audience a feast of music which will transport minds into ecstasy.

“The audience will again be invited to join the choir and the band in singing and flag-waving during Jerusalem and Land Of Hope And Glory.”

The choir will perform Christmas concerts on December 14 at Bradley Village Hall, in aid of the hall refurbishment, and on December 21 at St Margaret’s Church in Ilkley. Email tickets@steetonmalevoice.co.uk or call 01943 817341 or 07704 123176 to book.

The choir this month played in aid of Manorlands at Silsden Methodist Church featuring what Eric called a “wonderful” performance by young guest singer Zweyla Mitchell.

He said: “Zweyla was winner of the SMVC Arthur Wilson prize at last year’s Wharfedale Performing Arts Festival, and sang two sets from musical productions with a truly magnificent delivery and style.

“Two songs that particularly brought high applause by the audience was Children Will Listen from Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods and and Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man Of Mine.”
