KEIGHLEY Big Local volunteers have addressed the annual conference of the National support organisation.

Local residents who run the Keighley regeneration body joined people from 150 other Big Local areas at the Local Trust's event in Nottingham.

During the two-day event, they presented a workshop on financial inclusion – helping residents access affordable and trustworthy financial products – getting local residents involved in community activities.

The annual conference allows members of Big Local, whose organise regeneration projects in their own neighbourhoods, to share experiences with other areas.

Attending in Keighley were Keighley Big Local Partnership members Rana Begum, the minutes secretary, and chairman Fiona Thompson.

Coordinator Shaun O'Hare said: "Keighley Big Local was praised the progress it has made. The Partnership has come a long way and is only three years into a 10-year funded programme.

"Other Big Local areas will be visiting us to learn from our successes and mistakes. Keighley Big Local has been recognised for delivering effective pilot projects and creating innovative partnerships.

"The next couple of year is all about taking some of the projects to another level and measuring progress to make sure we stay on track."

Mr O'Hare said the Keighley Partnership would look at ways of delivering projects so that they would remain active beyond the grant-funded period of 2016-2026.
