CHRISTIANS Against Poverty will start its latest Positive Life Skills course in Keighley on November 6.

The free sessions will run at the Keith Thompson Centre on Coronation Mount, Braithwaite, on Wednesday afternoons, starting with a free lunch at midday.

Alongside the eight-week course will be social events such as going to the cinema, visiting Cliffe Castle or having a Christmas party.

The Rev Anthony Bennett, who established the causes earlier this year, said the sessions were "really good fun" and a wonderful opportunity to meet new people.

He said: "We all learn how to stay healthy on a budget and make our money go further. We’ve built up a little community in Braithwaite and it would be fantastic to welcome new people to do the course.”

“We’re also looking for more volunteers to help on our team. We have some excellent cooks who make our shared meal each week, but we’re always on the lookout for more people to join the team and share the responsibilities!”

The course is designed to give people the confidence and decision-making skills to live well, look after themselves and feel positive, even on a low income.

Christians Against Poverty is a charity that gives free help to everyone regardless of age, gender, faith or background.

Starting 20 years ago, it first provided debt counselling and now offers a range of help to tens of thousands of people in hardship across the UK every year.
