‘SPOOKTACULAR’ activities are planned across Keighley as Halloween approaches.

A Creepy Keighley event takes place in the Airedale Shopping Centre on Saturday, October 26, between 11am and 4pm.

Duo Trick and Treat will spread mischief and perform magic tricks, and there will be a 17ft-long T Rex, a raptor and a giant inflatable Frankenstein.

Keighley College students will be on hand to apply creepy make-up, and there will be giveaways.

The event is being organised by Discover Keighley.

On the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, special Halloween and Wizard’s Express trains will run on Sunday, October 27, and Thursday, October 31.

The Halloween train – from 11am both days – will include storytelling, magic shows, activity sheets and a trail.

A spellbinding trip on the Wizard’s Express is on offer at 10am and 1.15pm both days, departing from Oxenhope.

Budding witches and wizards will be given lessons in the basics of broomsticks, potions and spells. Each ‘pupil’ will be provided with a report card to complete as they travel and will collect gold stars. The express is aimed at children aged five to 12, but anyone can enrol.

Tickets for the Halloween train can be bought on the day, but advance booking is recommended for the Wizard’s Express. Visit kwvr.co.uk or call 01535 645214 for more details.

At Cliffe Castle Museum, visitors are encouraged to don fancy dress on October 31 for an ‘out of this world’ party.

There will be space-themed craft activities and a chance to explore the planetarium, from 11am to 3pm. The party continues from 6.30pm in the pavilion cafe, where there will be star gazing, with experts on hand to help people understand what they can see.

Brian Jones, of Bradford Astronomical Society, will speak from 7pm on what can be observed in the winter night sky. And from 8pm, Peter Collins will give a talk on astro-photography. The events are supported by Keighley Astrological Society and Cliffe Castle Support Group.

Keighley Market is also getting into the Halloween spirit. There will be face painting between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, October 26, and Keighley Creative Space will deliver a craft workshop in the market hall from noon to 3pm.
