A PACKED weekend is in store for music lovers in Haworth with a choice of piano favourites, classic cuts and sizzling soul.

Halifax-based funk, soul and disco band The Funkside will perform party classics at the Old School Rooms in Church Street on November 8 at 7pm.

Pianist Stuart Langhorne will perform at Hall Green Baptist Church on November 9 at 7pm. And finishing the weekend on Sunday will be an open deck night in the Old School Rooms.

Stuart has for 30 years been the Steeton Methodist Church organist, and he specialises in popular songs and classical music. He has provided music for Hettie’s regular themed foodie events in Skipton including Japanese, Italian and Yorkshire evenings.

He said: “I have a classical repertoire and I can play music from operas. It’s largely based on my ability to remember pieces from popular piano concertos.”

Stuart has released a CD entitled Christmas Celebrations, a seasonal journey of classic and popular favourites from stage and screen. These include the Holy City, Silent Night, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Winter Wonderland, Wichita Lineman, White Christmas and You’re A Lady.

Proceeds of Stuart’s concert go to Age UK. Tickets cost £5 from the Age UK shop in Keighley or by calling 07391 402417. Call Stuart on 07534 634131 to buy a copy of the album.

The Funksidewill perform upbeat party classics at the Old School Rooms in Church Street from 7pm. Tickets cost £12 for adults, £6 for children, from Hawksbys or Weavers Guesthouse in Haworth, or by visiting funksidehaworth.eventbrite.co.uk.
