CARE-home residents are being given the chance to sample vegan meals.

The initiative, at Czajka Care Group homes, is part of World Vegan Day tomorrow.

A range of dishes will be served-up at the group’s five properties, including Currergate in Steeton and Beanlands, Cross Hills.

Gerard Raedcher, Czajka Care Group area catering supervisor, said: “We continually focus on enhancing our food offering and ensuring residents look forward to mealtimes.

“In recent years, veganism has become much more mainstream and many of the meat-free and plant-based foods that are now available are fantastic.

“World Vegan Day is an opportunity for us to showcase to our residents what’s available, at a time when there are growing concerns surrounding the health consequences of eating meat, as well as the ethical and environmental impact of animal agriculture. The idea has been very well received by our residents.”
