FOLK music legends Steeleye Span will take their 50th anniversary tour to Bradford Cathedral on November 29. The band is one of the best known of the British Folk Revival thanks to hit singles Gaudette and All Around My Hat.
The band, renowned for electrifying folk music in 1969, will perform as a seven-piece line-up presenting a night of favourites and surprises from down the decades.
Lead singer Maddy Prior, famed for her annual tours of Christmas music, is regarded as an icon of folk and popular music.
A spokesman said: “Her voice, swooping and soaring in harmony and melody, is still remarkable. She still dances infectiously to the jigs, as happy in the moment as she has ever been.”
Maddy said: “Steeleye Span has a massive about of energy at the moment, as we have all these young players who have joined us and they are discovering this music with the same enthusiasm as we did.”
