A SUTTON theatre group is drawing inspiration from a classic fairytale for its latest pantomime.

The Green Hut Theatre Company will present Goldilocks And The Three Bears in Sutton Village Hall next month.

The traditional family show will feature several newcomers amongst the cast of adults and children.

They will present a show filled with comedy, song and dance, romance and adventure from December 4-7.

Goldilocks is the adopted daughter of Dame Buttercup, the original ‘old lady who lived in a shoe’ with a large and exuberant family.

The teenage Goldilocks is more interested in a new arrival in the village, the dashing Billy, than in doing her chores.

Meanwhile, Buttercup’s decision to claim benefits for 46 children is about to come unstuck, with the arrival of suspicious investigator Montgomery Tibthwich.

Goldilocks could also find herself in trouble, as her evil uncle returns from exile in search of power, riches, and the truth about Goldilocks’ past.

Helping Goldilocks are an incompetent fairy, a travelling peddler, a Demon Queen who doesn’t want to be evil... and of course a trio of friendly bears living in the forest.

The cast includes Sutton regulars Philip Smith as Dame Buttercup and Roxanne Williams as Billy, with Keighley teenager Emma Howard playing Goldilocks in her first role for the Green Hut Theatre Company.

Josh Breeze, who played leading man Link in Hairspray for Keighley Musical Theatre Company, returns to the Green Hut after playing a leading role in Anything Goes last April. This time he is taking on the comedy role of Montgomery.

Green Hut veterans Anna Stead and David Knights play Mummy and Daddy Bear, while local girls Hannah Collings and Hannah Kirby share the role of Baby Bear.

Olivia Humphrey plays the Demon Queen, Anne Marie Mody the peddler, and Louise Ware the fairy.

The Green Hut Theatre Company plans to present a show in May next year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, the end of the Second World War in Europe.

The show, currently in the planning stages, is likely to feature a host of nostalgic wartime songs along with comedy and drama recalling the days of the Home Front.

Goldilocks And The Three Bears runs nightly at 7.15pm plus a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.
