SILSDEN Moor farmer Edward Fort could be forgiven for milking his latest success.

He won his first-ever Craven Dairy Auction championship at Skipton Auction Mart’s opening November show and sale.

Mr Fort, who runs the Silmoor pedigree herd at High Bracken Hall Farm, has secured a string of rosettes for his dairy cattle over the years.

But he was delighted to add the championship title – achieved with first-prize newly-calven heifer, Silmoor Maurice Peach – to the list of accolades.

The heifer – shown by Mr Fort’s daughter, Georgie, who runs her own Bracken Hill dairy herd – sold for a £2,180 top-price to ringside regular Brian Blezard, of Ribchester.

The reserve champion was shown by Peter Baul, of Bishop Thornton, and sold for £1,900.
