KEIGHLEY Lions have issued a plea for help as they prepare for their hugely-popular annual Santa sleigh tours around the district.

The sleigh has been a familiar sight for many years on the streets of Keighley and surrounding communities on December evenings in the run-up to Christmas – and thousands of pounds have been raised for charity.

But the Lions club is hoping to be granted its own festive wish.

“Santa’s reindeer have been sent away on a retraining course leaving us with difficulties pulling the sleigh around the district,” said a spokesman.

“Is there anyone out there with a vehicle fitted with a tow bar, and able to help us for an evening or two – or more? Insurance etc will all be covered.”

The plan is for the sleigh tours to start on December 2.

Provisionally, the programme will include Cross Roads, Cullingworth, East Morton, Exley Head, Fell Lane, Ingrow, Oakworth, Silsden and Steeton.

Anybody able to help is asked to contact Hazel Jiggins on 01274 552141 or David Ogden on 01535 602031 for more details.
