DISTRICT staff from the Department for Work and Pensions have given another boost to Manorlands.

They have presented £1,027 to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice after staging a series of activities.

Events culminated with a seventh annual football tournament.

Five teams took part in the TOBY Cup, with Bradford Debt Centre winning the trophy.

The tournament – at Goals Bradford – is held in memory of Tom O’Brien, a former DWP employee who died at Manorlands seven years ago.

Other fundraising activities included a cake stall organised by Tracy McGrath, which coined-in £170.

There was a raffle, with more than 60 donated prizes.

And staff member Mina Dhokia took part in a TOBY Splash at Pudsey Leisure Centre, swimming 64 lengths in 53 minutes and raising £681.

Thanks were expressed to all those who supported the activities.

Manorlands fundraiser, Harriet Wood, said: “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the staff at the Bradford Service Centre for many years now and they are all amazing!

“We are so grateful for the time, energy and commitment that goes into this event and in the seven years it’s been running they have now raised a total of £8,527 for the hospice.”
