POLICE are appealing for information after an acid attack at East Morton.

A CCTV camera captured the moment the incident took place.

The assailant can be seen hurling a jug of liquid outside a house in Little Lane.

Around £14,000 damage was caused to a car parked in the driveway and to a window of the house.

Shocked householder Dr Polly Redman said it was only through good luck that no one was hurt.

"The person never even looked to check if there was anybody there before launching this jug of acid," she said.

"They showed no regard for human life. Anyone could have been outside. It's shocking.

"The damage is sickening, but the consequences could have been so much worse.

"We don't know why the person has done what they did and we would urge anyone with information to contact the police."

West Yorkshire Police confirm that they are investigating the incident, which happened shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday, November 7.

Anyone able to help is asked to call 101 or use the reporting options on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting crime reference number 13190578264.

Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
