CHILDREN from Glusburn and both Sutton primary schools joined together to commemorate Armistice Day.

They assembled around the war memorial in Sutton Park, along with members of the public, for the 11am service on November 11.

Sutton Community Primary School head Fiona Beetles said: "Our children did us proud.

"We always spend time preparing our children for this event and explaining the solemnity and behaviour needed in order to show due respect.

"We remind them that of the names on the cenotaph, some will have attended our school as children, and that past pupils and indeed current parents continue to serve and protect us." The oldest boy and girl in Sutton Community Primary School laid a wreath on behalf of all the school's pupils, while another pupil wrote a message.

Children from all three schools read some of the names on the Sutton war memorial.
