MANORLANDS has once again been chosen as the charity partner of a hugely-successful triathlon.

The Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice will be the beneficiary of Skipton Triathlon.

Around 150 people signed-up for next year’s event within a week of entries opening.

This year, the triathlon raised £4,500 for Manorlands.

Craven Council took over the running of the spring event in 2017, and since then more than 700 athletes have taken part each year.

And the council hopes that with an early-bird offer attracting large numbers, the 2020 event – on April 19 – will see record entries.

Participants tackle a 400-metre swim in Craven leisure pool, a 22km bike ride to West Marton and Thornton-in-Craven, and a 5km run through Aireville Park.

Sharon Hudson, Craven Council’s communications, customer services and partnerships manager, said: “This is a brilliant event and we are delighted to be partnering with Sue Ryder Manorlands hospice again.

“We always get fantastic feedback from people who have taken part – the event attracts a huge range of competitors, from complete beginners to elite athletes.

“We’re really grateful to our generous sponsors and amazing supporters and volunteers who help us stage this event and make it such a great experience for all those who take part.”
