A GIRL from Sutton Community Primary School came first in her age group in the North Yorkshire cross country running final.
A boy and girl from the school reached the final, racing around Dalby Forest against the county's 70 top young runners in their age group.
More than 600 children took part in the contest on a rainy, muddy day in November.
Sutton CP School teaching assistant Anneli Howes said: "Lydia won first place in her age group - wowzers! And even though she makes it look so easy, I know that it is through lots of hard work, practice, determination and willpower that she is achieving such fantastic results.
"It was Elliott’s first experience to compete at such a high level and an unknown route and he came in a very respectable 24th place, which is amazing."
