FOLK comedy group the Houghton Weavers are returning to Glusburn Arts Centre on Saturday December 7 as part of their Christmas tour. It has been a very difficult year for the group following the death of lead singer Tony Berry.

Member Steve Millington said: “The passing of our dear Tony has been a great loss. He was our musical brother for many years and we miss him very much.”

Steve and original member David Littler have now been joined by Tony’s brother Jim, and Paul Johnston, formerly of The Five Penny Piece folk group. Steve said: “Jim brings a new dimension of wit and musicality to the show whilst keeping up the Weavers’ long tradition of fun and music. Paul is multi-talented with his humour and musical skills.”

Promised is a fun-packed, sing-a-long festive family show with familiar songs like Blackpool Belle, Matchstalk Men and Wild Rover together with new songs, and festive perennial favourites like Let It Snow.
