POLICE have issued an appeal for information following an accident in Keighley town centre in which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The incident happened shortly after 6pm yesterday in North Street, near the junction with Cavendish Street.

West Yorkshire Police now say the pedestrian was a man in his 80s – not, as they initially reported, a 58-year-old woman.

The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

His injuries are described as serious, but non-life-threatening.

Police said the driver of a blue Suzuki Wagon R had been spoken to at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicle being driven in the area prior to the accident, is asked to contact PC1282 Williamson in the roads policing unit on 101, quoting log number 1438 of 10/12. Officers would also like to hear from anybody with dashcam footage.
