YOUNGSTERS from five Worth Valley primary schools have displayed their musical skills.
They took part in the Worth Valley Schools Concert, at North Halifax Grammar School.
Pupils from Haworth, Oakworth, Oldfield, Lees and Stanbury schools performed with their own school choirs, before combining as the The Worth Valley Choir and Band.
Musical director, Mrs Sarah Schofield, said the event was well supported by families – with nearly 200 people attending.
She added: “This was our fourth concert and as ever the ultimate aim was to inspire our children to learn a musical instrument, whether it be their voice or something they can pick up and play!
“Learning to sing and play musical instruments are powerful and positive tools in the development of children’s minds. They develop mathematical ability and verbal memory.
“Thanks must go to staff from all the schools for enabling this concert to take place. And particular thanks to Stanbury head Graham Swinbourne, who is heavily involved in co-ordinating the concerts and plays guitar alongside the children.”
