STAFF at Airedale Hospital have unleashed their inner elf.
Colleagues on the Ward 22 pre-operative assessment unit supported National Elf Day, a festive initiative which raises funds and awareness surrounding dementia.
Activities at the hospital included a cake sale and raffle, with prizes donated by businesses.
Around £500 was raised.
There was also a visit to the unit from a dementia companion dog, which provides comfort to patients with the condition.
As part of annual National Elf Day – organised by the Alzheimer’s Society – schools, workplaces and organisations are invited to dress-up and support the cause through seasonal activities.
Corinne Hollings, a health care support worker with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said the hospital event was a huge success.
She added: “We wanted to support the charity because most people know someone who has been affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia. We’d like to say a huge thank-you to the businesses that generously donated prizes.”
