A CAR has been extensively damaged in a suspected arson attack.

Firefighters were called out at 4.30am today to deal with the burning Vauxhall Zafira, which was parked in Richmond Street, in the Highfield area of Keighley.

One crew from Keighley Fire Station attended.

The firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel to tackle the blaze.

Police are investigating the incident.

A family member said his cousin, who wishes to remain anonymous, had been traumatised by the loss of his car.

The man said: "My cousin has no idea why this happened. His wife normally drives the car. It was parked a couple of doors away from his house."
