THE SOUND of carols, brass and rainfall echoed around Haworth during the village's third special weekend of Christmas events.

The annual brass band weekend featured several groups from across the region, performing either outside on Main Street or in village churches.

As with the recent torchlight procession and Christmas lights switch-on, the event was organised by local traders through their Christmas in Haworth group.

Spokesman Josie Price said: "The traditional sounds of brass bands playing carols could be heard around Haworth all weekend and visitors spirits were not dampened by the rain.

"The weather seemed not to deter people from coming to Haworth, as the village was buzzing.

"Haworth Brass Band, Hebden Bridge Brass Band, Bradford Pipe Band, Drighlington Band, James Hutton, Baccappella and Leeds Morris Mummers all entertained across the weekend."

Two days before the weekend, pupils of Haworth Primary School joined with Haworth Brass Band for the school's annual Carols by Candlelight.

The school choir sang Christmas carols in the rain along with staff, parents, and villagers. Mince pies and hot chocolate were served afterwards.

Next weekend sees the last Christmas in Haworth weekend, with Nativity walks and carols taking place on both days. All are welcome.
