CARING pupils from Bronte Academy Trust schools are helping to spread some festive cheer across the community.

The youngsters – from Oakworth, Haworth, Lees and Oldfield primaries – have been collecting goods and making Christmas cards for charities.

Their efforts are in support of Age UK, Church on the Street – which helps the homeless – and Keighley Salvation Army. The children have packed shoeboxes with collected items and wrapped them ready for distribution.

In total, 21 shoeboxes have been collected for each of the charities Age UK and Church on the Street, and 13 – plus 38 bags of food – for the Salvation Army.

A trust spokesman said: “We are so proud to be able to support our local community and especially those in need. The pupils have loved being involved and we greatly appreciate the support from all our families for school events such as these.”
