GROOVY Happening will be hosting the fourth David Bowie's Birthday Party on January 4.

The event will begin at 7.30pm until midnight upstairs at Parkside Social Club in Haworth.

One of the organisers, Sue Burke, said: "his will be the fourth one we have done and it gets better every year!

"As well as musicians playing Bowie music live, there will be a Bowie disco and quiz.

"Ben Jordan will be playing for the second time at this event. Since he played in 2018, Ben has been busy forwarding his musical career: he has released two singles one of which ('Go Home') was played on Tony Blackburn's radio show.

"He now hosts his new Facebook show (Video Mic Night).

"DNA will be playing for the third time at this event, although lead singer, Eddie McLaughlin, will be the only musician to have played at all four as he did an acoustic set at the first one.

"The rest of the band are Geoff Keighley on drums, Paul Wilkinson on guitar and Gordon Guest on bass."

Headlining are The Ruby Stone Sound.

Sue added: "This will be the third time they have played at Bowie's Birthday Party so they have built up quite a repertoire of Bowie songs and this year have a whole new set.

"Lead singer Ruby Stone (aka Dawn Stebbings), Jerome Dineen (bass), Gareth John (keyboards, vocals) and Martin Henderson (drums) will be joined by Wayne Marshall on guitar.

"The fact that all these musicians are returning to this Bowie themed night is testament to how it has taken off. It is a great way of celebrating the life and music of Bowie."

Admission is £4. All proceeds to Manorlands hospice.
