AN international company has been granted permission to demolish a number of dilapidated buildings at its Keighley site.

Water bottling firm Refresco has a base next to the Victoria Park roundabout, on the site of a former abattoir.

The site is used for the extraction of water.

There are a number of vacant buildings in various states of disrepair, and shortly before Christmas the company submitted an application to demolish them.

Bradford Council has now approved the work.

Four buildings in total will be demolished.

They include the former abattoir lodge, part of the existing tripe building, and a long storage building on the border of the site, next to the ambulance station.

The company said many sections of the empty buildings were in a dilapidated and dangerous condition.

The site will be resurfaced once the four buildings are demolished.
