POLICE teams have staged a crackdown on law-flouting motorists in Keighley.

Officers from Operation Steerside were joined in a day of action by colleagues from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and the West Yorkshire roads policing unit.

The initiative saw five warnings issued – and one vehicle seized – for anti-social driving.

Five vehicle defect notices were given.

One motorist was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possessing Class B drugs.

A driver was reported for having no insurance, and a car seized.

And a stolen vehicle was recovered.

The operation also saw three motorists reported for not wearing a seatbelt, one for driving without due care and attention, one on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and another for failing to stop and driving without due care.

Operation Steerside has run successfully across the district since 2016, targeting illegal and dangerous driving and vehicles.
