PEOPLE across Keighley and the Worth Valley are being urged to have their say on the police budget.
Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, is proposing an increase in the police precept of 4.99 per cent – which he says would equate to a rise of no more than £7.26 a year for most households.
“By making a small increase I can provide resources for more police officers and help protect the number of PCSOs visible in our neighbourhoods,” he said.
“I want to increase visible frontline policing, putting more officers on our streets to make sure communities are safe and feel safe, which I know is a priority for many people.
“This proposed increase would also support other key areas of investment for West Yorkshire Police, such as specialist investigators using new digital and forensic techniques to improve criminal justice outcomes for victims and witnesses.”
People can give their views at smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WYBudget2020. The deadline for responses is January 31.
