A TEAM of young footballers from Glusburn Primary School were crowned Boys' North Yorkshire champions last Thursday.
The tournament is run by the North Yorkshire Schools Football Association and the finals were held at York College.
In becoming champions, the team competed against winning schools from all areas of the North Yorkshire district including Richmondshire, Harrogate, Hambleton, Selby, York, Whitby, Scarborough and Ryedale.
Following winning the group stage, the team beat St Oswalds of York 2-0 in the semi-finals, then beat Knavesmire Primary School, also of York, 2-0 in the final.
The team were prepared the tournament by school coach Adam Smith and PE Coordinator Becky Gill managed the team at the event.
Headteacher Richard Hunt said: "I am extremely proud of the boys for this fantastic achievement and for the staff who have helped lead the team to victory from a pool of over 350 schools."
The team will now compete in a further stage representing North Yorkshire.
