A RIDDLESDEN pub has won an award after finding a saucy way to become plastic-free.
The Marquis of Granby's decision to remove plastic condiment pouches has been highlighted by Plastic Free Riddlesden.
The long-established pub in Hospital Road also introduced compostable drinking straws, and refill hand wash in its bathrooms.
The three measures were instrumental in national charity Surfers Against Sewage naming the Marquis of Granby as a Plastic Free Champion.
The accolade only only goes to organisations and businesses that reduce single-use plastics and replace them with sustainable materials.
Simon Hopla, the new owner/manager of the pub and restaurant, is now looking at other ways to remove single-use plastics.
The Marquis this week received praise from Jill Burghardt of Plastic Free Riddlesden, whose volunteer members encourage residents and businesses in the village to go plastic-free.
