KEIGHLEY Film Club has unveiled its spring season of Sunday evening screenings at the town’s Picture House cinema.

The season will begin on February 16 with the 15-certificate Photograph, in which a struggling Mumbai street photographer, pressured to marry by his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancee.

The pair develop a connection that transforms them in ways they could not expect. The film from Lunchbox director Ritesh Batra is described as an enigmatic meditation on chance meetings and things unsaid.

Harriet (certificate 12a), on March, 15, is the tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.

Border (15), on April, 19, features a customs officer who can smell fear. She develops an unusual attraction to a strange traveller while aiding a police investigation which will call into question her entire existence.

The “earthy fairytale” comes from Ali Abbasi, and is based on a short story by Let the Right One In author John Ajvide Lindqvist, and is said to “unfold and thrive in the gloaming half light of mystery”.

Doors open for all the screenings at 5.35pm.
