AROUND 550 members of Keighley’s Scout movement are taking part in a major camping event.
They will be among more than 6,000 young people and leaders at the West Yorkshire Big Camp 2020, in May.
A huge range of activities will be on offer at the extravaganza, at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.
The 300 attractions will include kayaking, archery, climbing and Europe’s largest inflatable waterslide.
Toby Hammond, West Yorkshire county youth commissioner, said: “Big Camp 2020 is another example of the outstanding opportunities Scouting offers young people to help them to develop skills for life.
“This camp has been shaped by young people in partnership with adults.”
Keighley Scouts district commissioner, Jeanette Young, said young people and adult volunteers alike were “excited” about taking part in the camp.
“We are all looking forward to coming together as one district for the event,” she added.
“Some amazing activities are going to be on offer.”
