THREE football clubs in the Keighley district have expressed their condolences after the announcement that a former player of theirs has died.

Mark Price was perhaps best remembered for his time at Silsden, turning in some fine performances for the club in the late 1990s and helping them to win many titles.

Price later became a popular player-coach in Silsden’s Sunday team of mid 2000’s

He also turned out for Steeton and Oxenhope Recreation during his career, while he was also playing Craven League cricket for Ingrow as little as five years ago.

Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club posted on Facebook that Price would be remembered as one of Ingrow's finest ever players.

Meanwhile, Oxenhope mentioned that Price was occasionally seen about the recreation ground watching games with his friends before moving to Spain to be with his parents.

And having passed away on Saturday night in Calahonda (in Andalucia on the south coast of Spain), a Just Giving page has now been set up.

The aim is to raise £10,000 so Price can be brought home and laid to rest back in the UK.

On the Just Giving page, a member of his family states: "He was an amazing character with a heart of gold, a keen sportsman as you all know and overall just a loveable, kind and genuine man who deserves to be back home, where his life can be celebrated with all who loved him.

"Mark would want to be surrounded by all his friends and family at this time and we appreciate its very raw, but we need to act fast so arrangements can be made in this extremely difficult circumstance.

"Please help with anything you can, there will be fundraisers happening, collection buckets around the town (Keighley) and this page for anyone who would like to donate to the cause. Thank you in advance."

The collection has raised just over £5,000 as of this Monday teatime. You can donate at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/markprice
