IT’S GETTING busy at Keighley’s newest music spot Studio 5 Live. The venue at the long-established Jam on Top music studios is hosting rock, jazz and blues concerts by renowned performers.

First up will be the John Hackett Band from Sheffield playing on Saturday March 14 supported by local favourites Apostle. The John Hackett Band last year played Prog Dreams in Holland and UK venues, featuring material from across John’s solo career.

Expect Led Zeppelin-type riffs, truly glorious guitar playing, a disarming vocal style, and songs across styles and genres. John recently played on brother Steve Hackett’s ‘Genesis Revisited Band & Orchestra: Live at the Festival Hall’ to follow his contribution to Steve’s current studio album At The Edge of Light.

The band features four writer-musicians – John, guitarist Nick Fletcher described as the best-kept secret in prog rock, drummer Duncan Parsons who performs with Genesis and Camel members, and bassist/vocalist Jeremy Richardson who specialises in “literate, insightful and emotional music for our times”.

Blues princess Chantel McGregor has chosen Studio 5 for a return to Keighley, on March 27. The guitar prodigy made her name playing “rock for the new age” with effortless virtuosity, supporting Joe Bonamassa on tour then becoming a messiah of blues-rock.

Her first album showcased her versatility and talent as a singer-songwriter. One critic said: “She doesn’t strum or pick her guitar but almost bends and distorts it, as if she’s channelling the ghost of Hendrix through her fingers.”

Scottish rockers GUN will be at Studio 5 on April 4 as part of a tour entitled R3L0aded: The Best Of GUN - Up Close and Personal. where their greatest hits will be reworked for smaller venues.

The band last year celebrated their 30th anniversary with an epic co-headline UK tour with Dan Reed Network and FM, and released the R3L0ADED album, a ‘best-of’ with cover versions and live favourites.

No Fit State will support Chantel McGregor on March 27 and Connor Selby on May 15. Saxophone superstar Snake Davis will perform in October 2 and Cormac Neeson on November 13.

The three members of Blues Caravan – Jeremiah Johnson, Whitney Shay and Ryan Perry – will perform separate 45-minute sets then perform together, on April 24.

Studio 5 Live is at Melbourne House, Chesham Street, Keighley. Visit ticketsource.co.uk or call 01535 600133 to book tickets.
