KEIGHLEY poet Simon Pickles will perform on Friday March 6 as part of the prestigious Leeds Lit Fest, in Blur The Lines, a showcase for local poetry talent at Holbeck Working Men’s Club.

Simon runs Spoken Word, a monthly sober spoken word poetry night which he describes as “one of the only dry nights in Yorkshire”, every month at Riri’s Coffee House on North Street.

He said: “We have attracted guest poets of the highest calibre including Rose Condo, whose The Empathy Experiment won best spoken word show at 2019 Manchester Fringe Festival.”

Simon, 47, is working with Keighley Creative Space on spring workshops and performance with Keighley disaffected youth.

He said: “I grew up as part of the disaffected youth in Keighley, and after overcoming addictions to drugs and alcohol have found poetry a powerful tool for aiding recovery.”
