CHOIRS from Silsden, Oakworth, Skipton and Bingley will come together this month for a concert in Halifax.

More than 250 members of the various Voices of Yorkshire choirs will perform together at the Victoria Theatre on Sunday March 15.

This will be the biggest concert yet for the group that began with one choir in Oakworth under the leadership, former pop star Nick Ingram.

After he founded the choir in January 2018, Voices of Yorkshire went on to have four groups with more than 350 members ranging in age from 15 to 89.

The singers have performed at venues large and small, raising money for local charities such as Manorlands and Candlelighters.

The Victoria Theatre concert will encompass pop, rock, swing and soul, with an eclectic choice of songs from Queen to Ed Sheeran.

Alongside the Voices of Yorkshire singers will be a live band, a magician, comedian, and the Oakworth-based Show Kids dance school.

Nick is a musician and singer, who trained at the Royal Academy of Music and went on to perform in the West End.

He achieved chart success in a band called the Yeah You’s around a decade ago with singles 15 Minutes and Getting Up With You, and a debut album Looking Through You which was named a BBC Radio 2 Album of The Week in 2009.

Nick is also the singing voice for children’s programmes Bob The Builder and Fireman Sam.

Voices of Yorkshire currently has weekly sessions in Bingley, Skipton, Oakworth in Silsden, and in April this year will expand into other areas of West Yorkshire.
