DENHOLME residents have started a website for villagers who may be vulnerable or at risk of loneliness during the pandemic.

More than 50 volunteers are working with the Neighbourhood Watch and Denholme Town Council to provide help.

The website, denholmeassist.co.uk, is accompanied by a text message service offering help to those most in need.

Villagers say what services they can provide, such as getting shopping, collecting medication oroffering to phone someone to ensure they are alright.

People, such as the elderly, vulnerable, and those with underlying health conditions can use the website to see what services could help them.

Denholme Assist was set up by Shane Hollingdrake, who said it was important to create a sense of pride and community spirit during the crisis.

If people cannot use the website site, they should text the word DENHOLME, followed by a description of what help they need, to 87007.
