RURAL communities across the region that aren’t connected to the mains gas grid could be in line for cash aid.

Calor has launched its fourth annual Rural Community Fund grants scheme.

Projects could earn a share of an £85,000 funding pot.

Awards of between £1,000 and £5,000 are on offer for schemes ranging from the purchase of new equipment for community spaces to the building of new facilities.

Applicants will be listed online and encouraged to share details of their ventures via social media, to gain points. Highest-scoring projects will then be shortlisted for the finals.

Andy Parker, for Calor, said: “At a time when investment in local communities and facilities is scarce, we are again showing our support and passion for rural areas through the Calor Rural Community Fund.”
