STEETON manager Roy Mason has provided a brief update on the progress the club are making at Marley.

The Football Association's ground grading deadline, to establish whether Marley is a suitable venue to host Step Six non-league football from next season onwards, is on March 31.

Although that is very likely to be pushed back, especially given Prime Minister Boris Johnson's order for increased restrictions on public movement last night due to the worsening coronavirus pandemic, Mason said Steeton have not had official word yet from the FA that that will be the case.

Therefore, they have been working on the basis that the ground needs to be ready for next week.

Providing an update, Mason said: "We've been ploughing on, and the secure walkway from the changing rooms to the pitch has been installed,

"The physio tables we needed are in situ too, while work on the stand and turnstiles has started.

"But we'll now just have to see what happens over the next few weeks."
