AN Only Fools and Horses super-fan can dream of being a millionaire after building a replica of Del Boy’s flat.

Mike Hutchinson has made a lovely jubbly job of recreating the Trotter family’s base from the legendary sitcom.

This is the latest off his production line of exciting mock-ups of iconic memorabilia from film and TV, which so far include a DeLorean from the Back to the Future films and Lightning McQueen from Pixar’s Cars.

The 42-year-old decided to make Del Boy’s pukka home for his enterprising schemes after always being a fan of the much-loved sitcom.

He and his father, Peter, spent two months making the cushty creation, which is 16ft by 12ft and transportable.

They hope to take it to a number of exhibitions in the future.

It was shown for the first time at a ComicCon exhibition in Liverpool when stars of the show were among those to view it.

John Challis and Sue Holderness, who played Boycie and wife Marlene in the show, and Philip Pope, who played singer Tony Angelino of ‘Crying’ fame in a classic episode, took a seat on Del Boy’s sofa.

Mike, of East Morton, says the replica flat cost him around £2,000 to build and he was a regular shopper at district charity shops for the furniture and other items.

He said: “I have always loved Only Fools and Horses.

“It took a few weeks to wallpaper and I had to get a graphic designer to design the wallpaper for me. This is after I thought I had found the palm tree wallpaper in the USA, but then I found out it was the wrong stuff. I collected most of the things from charity shops.

“It took a while to build it, and I roped my dad in to help.

“The reaction to the flat at the Liverpool event was awesome. It’s an old TV programme but little kids loved the flat too.”

Once things return to normality post-coronavirus, Mike hopes to show off his unique collection of creations at events in the district and across the country. He is also putting the finishing touches to a replica of the Kitt car from 1980s TV series Knightrider. Any venues which would like to exhibit Mike’s Del Boy flat in the future can email him at
