A KEIGHLEY organisation has received a cash boost.
The Keighley Association for Women and Children Centre has been awarded £9,860 in the latest round of the Community Partnering Fund.
Northern Gas Networks and Northern Powergrid, in partnership with Leeds Community Foundation, operate the fund.
In total, £50,000 has been shared between six grassroots projects and third-sector organisations across the north of England.
Managers of the fund say the aim is to enable groups to broaden their support for the communities in which they work.
Keighley Association for Women and Children Centre – in Marlborough Street – is working with black, Asian and minority ethnic young women at risk of underachieving to help them aspire to careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
Naz Kazmi, for the centre, said: “We’re delighted to have received the grant.
“The funding will allow us to further our current work, providing longer school-based sessions as well as offering a visit to a local employer or higher education provider, inspiring more young people in our community.”
