A TEENAGER is cock-a-hoop after a victorious first-ever foray into the poultry show arena.
Henry Bailey, 17, ruffled a few feathers when he took championship honours at this year’s opening Craven Premier Poultry spring show and sale at Skipton Auction Mart.
The event was held before coronavirus restrictions were introduced.
Henry, of Long Lee Hall Farm, above Keighley, secured the champion accolade with a first-prize pen of three Rhode Island Reds. They sold for £35. Show judge was Harry Parsons.
Henry has been keeping poultry – both Rhode Island Red and Welsummers – for a couple of years.
His flock is currently around 50-strong and he sells the eggs from them directly to customers in the area. He farms with father David, who keeps breeding ewes and prime cattle.
