KEIGHLEY College is ensuring students don’t miss out on their learning during the coronavirus crisis.
A weekly timetable of activities is being provided for students to participate in from home while the Bradford Road campus is closed.
Five themes are covered – exercise and physical activity, wellbeing and mental health, healthy eating, fun activities and current affairs.
Through Google Hangouts, small groups are interacting to discuss topics ranging from sports to gaming and films. And the video feature is being used to deliver live classes in subjects including engineering and electrical.
Students are also benefitting from live video sessions on an application known as Discord.
College principal, Steve Kelly, said: “We’re committed to creating a fun, interactive and engaging environment for students. While this is a difficult time and learning from home can be challenging for many, we have developed a strategy to cover a range of fun and educational activities.”
Social media platforms are being used to provide regular updates throughout the college, and details of opportunities to volunteer in essential areas are being shared.
Also, a dedicated independent learning team has launched Google Classroom templates and activities to support distance learning.
