FIREFIGHTERS in Tadley have warned residents not to remove batteries from smoke alarms after dramatic photos show the damage caused by a suspected fridge freezer fire.

Crews from Tadley, Basingstoke and Kingsclere were called out to the property on Bishopswood Lane at 7.30pm on April 2.

Part of the kitchen was gutted by the fire, with 20 per cent fire damage and 60 per cent smoke damage.

Four breathing apparatuses, two jets, one hose reel and tactical ventilation were used to extinguish the flames, whilst One 57-year-old female was treated by an ambulance.

Tweeting after the incident, Tadley Fire Station said: "Property had a smoke detector on the ground floor but unfortunately the battery had been removed.

"Please do not remove batteries from smoke detectors."
