FOOTLOOSE is returning to Bradford Alhambra this autumn with pop idol and musicals star Gareth Gates in the cast.

The stage musical, based on the hit film in the 1980s, can be seen from September 7-12 following two critically-acclaimed tours and a West End run.

After reaching the finals of ITV talent contest Pop Idol and achieving chart hits, Gareth to the theatre stage and becoming renowned for roles in musicals like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Loserville and Legally Blonde.

In Footloose, Gareth gives what the Manchester Evening News called a “faultless” performance as loveable cowboy Willard.

Footloose is set in a small town in the American midwest where the local preacher has banned dancing. A teenage boy arrives, and his city ways bring him into conflict with the elders as he organises a dance competition.

A spokesman said: “Footloose sizzles with spirit, fun and the best in UK musical talent. With cutting edge modern choreography, you’ll enjoy classic 80s hits including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose.”

The recommended age for audience members is 12 and above.
