RESIDENTS are enjoying a high noon dance jamboree during the lockdown.

People living in Burnside Crescent, Skipton, have met up every day at noon - regardless of weather - to step out onto the street, socially distance, strut their stuff and keep the community spirit going.

At the heart of the fun are Louisa Beck and Jason Oddie, who DJ with a pair of mega-speakers.

They have also instigated a Facebook page (Burnside Residents daily dance) for residents to co-ordinate birthdays, events and songlist requests.

Resident Andrew Wroot said, to lighten the mood even further, on recent Sundays they have made it fancy dress, such as YMCA and a Grease mega-mix.

Louisa and Rachel Hodgkiss decided to use the day and go for the recent Christ Church 2.6 challenge to raise money for Martin House hospice, dancing for 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Mr Wroot said: "Quite a few local folk and even a few tradesmen have stopped by to see our antics.

"We are all just average people in our community but are enjoying putting a smile on people's faces each day. One family is currently making and designing a flag for us to rally to.

"We are just a group that have enjoyed our daily get-together and recognise the importance of all our key workers at this difficult time.

"Amongst our ranks we have a couple of NHS workers, some young children who require special needs and one young lady recovering from leukaemia."
