YOUNGSTERS from Oakworth Juniors Football Club have upped their goal as they raise desperately-needed funds for Manorlands.
Around 50 players, parents and coaches are taking part in a Manorlands Marathon May challenge.
Each is aiming to run the equivalent of a marathon – 26.2 miles – during the month, as they take exercise from their homes.
The original target was to raise £500 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, but that figure was reached within a couple of days.
Now the total stands at more than £3,300 – and the target has been reset at £3,500.
Also, most of the players have almost achieved their marathon distance and intend continuing.
"Everyone is enjoying the challenge – getting out and doing their bit for the amazing work Manorlands does," said Nigel Smith, the club's under-14s coach.
Run updates, photos and screen shots are being posted on the club’s Facebook page.
And a Just Giving fundraising webpage has been set-up at justgiving.com/fundraising/nigel-smith61.
