NOW the politicians are vying for bonus points about when schools should reopen and saying the main problems are about safety.

In my day kids were allowed to climb trees, play with mud, race up and down the street on three-wheeler bikes. Not today, the authorities are being namby-pambies.

The kids of today are programmed to be soft and their ability to fend-off bugs has gone, because their immune system has been – again – programmed.

It's about time we let the kids go out there and be kids.

The man and woman in the street know what's best for their kids. Political point-scoring has to be outlawed.
