POLICE have issued a warning after reports of bogus workmen intimidating vulnerable and elderly residents in the Bury area.

Greater Manchester Police officers working in Bury have received reports of two men in an old white Transit van in Middleton Drive- an area which borders Whitefield and Sunnybank.

Both men were wearing dark combat pants with navy blue sweatshirts.

The first male was described as white, approximately 40-45 years old, with slick black hair and a European accent.

The second male was also described as white and 40-45 years old, with a ginger beard and an Irish accent.

The men were allegedly offering roof and maintenance work for large amounts of money and offering lifts to the bank to withdraw cash.

According to police, the men are "forceful" in their approach and seem to be targeting the vulnerable and elderly.

The post from GMP Bury North added: "Please make any vulnerable or elderly neighbours or relatives aware."
