FREE online training in the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is being offered to Keighley-district places of worship.

Strengthening Faith Institutions (SFI) has teamed-up with Virtual College to provide more than 20 modules covering a range of issues.

Javed Bashir, safeguarding consultant at SFI, said: “Faith leaders, staff and volunteers need to be able to recognise any of the signs or symptoms of abuse and know how to report them to the correct authority.

“In these unprecedented times, we are partnering with Virtual College to offer online training for free – covering 24 essential modules – in Keighley and district.

“Each course can be completed in the person’s own time and comes with certification.

“Participants will learn about the legislation and guidance that governs safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, identify safe working practices, recognise the importance of early intervention and the signs of abuse and neglect, and learn what to do if you have concerns.

“Course places are limited so we advise people to apply as soon as possible.”
