AN OSWESTRY travel agent has confirmed it has reopened for business following the Covid-19 lockdown.

Polka Dot Travel, based in Bailey Street, reopened on Monday with safety measures in place as the ease of UK lockdown and updated Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) travel advice is giving fresh hope for 2020 holidays.

The branch was forced to close its doors in March but, following updated FCO travel advice and the announcement of quarantine free destinations including most of Europe’s holiday hotspots, it is reopening its doors for holiday bookings.

Mark Johnson, director at Polka Dot Travel, said: “We can’t wait to welcome our customers back and help you to book their next trip.

“Whether it’s a last minute summer holiday, a Christmas break or you’re planning ahead for 2021 after missing out this year, we are ready to help.

“While our teams have been busy working safely from home to manage our online and telephone bookings we pride ourselves on our in-branch experience.

“We know how much some people want face to face expert advice.

“We have all the required safety measures in place for staff and customers and, for those who are still unable to go in branch, you can book phone and video appointments with your branch.”

The branch is one of 14 being reopened by Polka Dot Travel which has 19 locations across the UK.

It also revealed that during lockdown, 60 per cent of its customers who had trips cancelled opted to rebook their holiday for 2021 and, in many cases, enhanced it with a longer stay or a higher star rating hotel, while a number that opted for a refund have since already rebooked.

The company has had a team of more than 20 staff remain working from home.
