LEEDS-based theatre company Red Ladder have been busy in recent months creating online content while planning for the future.

The long-established company’s flagship production is Connected, an ongoing podcast series that has now reached its 10th episode. Connected is a series of online performances written by Chris O’Connor and Paul Fox, and produced by Red Ladder in partnership with Mantality.

A spokesman said: “Paul and Danny are connected, and so are all of us.They meet every Wednesday for a pint after work. It has been a tradition for three years, and 2020 is no different. But 2020 is different. And as the weeks continue the reality of this new world dawns upon them both and we see how they react as the world starts to fall into chaos all around them.”

Red Ladder is part of a city-wide scheme, co-ordinated by Leeds City Centre, to provide thousands of free tickets, discounts and special events for NHS and frontline workers to say thank you for their enormous efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Red Ladder has also shared The Parting Glass, a reflective filmabout its 2019 tour of a play of the same name written by Chris O’Connor. The play explored mental health, masculinity and human connection in a social media-obsessed world.

Red Ladder Board member Dan Bye and longtime Red Ladder collaborator Boff Whalley recently led a choir from the centre of Stockton-on-Tees to the summit of Roseberry Topping, making a short film of their journey entitled Hills Are Ours.
